Sophos Anti-virus提供查毒和杀毒功能，能对台式机、网络操作系统、笔记本电脑、工作站和服务器进行保护。它能提供实时和定时二种病毒扫描方式。其中实时扫描，能通过Intercheck技术对需要进行访问的每个文件进行扫描，只有没有感染病毒它才允许用户访问有使用该文件。在工作站和终端用户无需进行操作的情况下，Sophos的安装、配置、以及升级，都可由系统管理员通过SAVadmin的中央安装目录（CID）来处理，因此使用很方便。

通过Enterprise Manager 还可以实现从Sophos 网站到服务器、工作站及终端用户的自动升级。Sophos Anti-virus能够监控所以入口点，包括磁盘、程序、文档、网络驱动器、光盘以及电子邮件和从因特网下载到台式机上的各种东西；它能检测和清除各种宏病毒，引导区病毒和PE 可执行文件病毒；支持对压缩文件的查杀。Sophos Anti-virus还支持多操作系统和多文件系统（file systems）。能及时完整地提供病毒告警消息：desktop alerts,network message,intercheck server event,SMTPemail,SNMP trap和log files。
